Will it hurt?

We at fresh acupuncture understand that many people have a fear of needles. Our acupuncture needles are very different to the hypodermics used across the medical profession as they are much smaller and finer.

Many of our clients find that they feel a small tap on the point of insertion.
Once the needle is in place you may be aware of a heat, tingling or gentle aching sensation – congratulations! This is a good sign and means that the needle is doing its job!

We believe that the benefits of acupuncture outweigh any mild discomfort felt during treatment, however, if you are in any doubt whatsoever, we would be delighted to offer you a free 15 minute chat, at which you may experience the insertion of an acupuncture needle for yourself.

Is it safe?

All equipment used is pre-sterilised and disposable and the strictest policy of health
and safety adhered to at all times. Any side affects are generally positive improvements in other areas of health unlike many modern medications on the market today

How many treatments will I need?

For most conditions, we would recommend an initial course of 6 treatments, however, every body and every condition is unique and individuals respond differently according to age, lifestyle choices and state of general health.

Your initial consultation is very important in establishing how to proceed with your treatment and you should provide as much information as possible at this time.

Will you need to know my medical history?

Acupunture is very much a holistic approach to medicine. This approach is one of treating the cause as well as the symptom and in some instances the two may not
be obviously linked.

For this reason, whatever your condition, a complete and clear picture of your previous and current state of health is essential in determining the best course of action for you
as an individual.

At your initial consultation, we will complete a Personal Health Assessment together.

fresh acupuncture takes your health and wellbeing very seriously.

I’m pregnant – can I still have treatment?

Congratulations! What an exciting time for your and your loved ones!

Acupuncture has been traditionally used throughout pregnancy to help maintain
the health and wellbeing of mum and bump!

Common pregnancy conditions that we treat include:

Elevated blood pressure
Morning sickness
Lower back pain
Anxiety
Dizziness

Also, after the 38th week, acupuncture may be used to prepare you and your body
for the upcoming event. This may also prevent you going over your due date.

It is vital that you tell us if you are trying to conceive or think you may be pregnant as some acupuncture points are contra-indicated in pregnancy and these points should be avoided.

Once baby has arrived
Having your baby should be the most precious bonding opportunity and nothing should spoil this special time. If for any reason, you feel you may be experiencing signs of post natal depression, acupuncture may be able to help. Please take a look at our freshly packaged page for our ‘Yummy Mummy’ treat, a real pick me up for all new mums. You don’t need to suffer in silence.
